Semi-Automatic Open Mouth Bagging Machines: Efficient Packaging Solutions for Granular & Powdered Products.
Botek machinery’s semi-automatic open mouth bagging machines provide the ideal balance of human oversight and mechanical precision. Designed for operations that prioritize flexibility, seguridad, and reliable performance without the need for full automation, these systems handle a wide range of dry bulk materials—from free-flowing grains to difficult powders. The operator places the bag, and the machine ensures accurate, consistent filling, making it a cost-effective cornerstone for packaging lines across agriculture, chemicals, building materials, and food production.
How It Works: Operator-Friendly, Machine-Precise
1.Bag Placement: The operator manually places the empty open-mouth bag onto the ergonomic shaping device or bag holder.
Safe Activation: Using a dual-hand control or foot pedal, the operator activates the system. A safety interlock ensures the machine proceeds only when hands are clear of the filling zone.
2.Secure Sealing & Filling: A mechanical arm secures the bag under the fill spout. The integrated weighing and dosing system then delivers the product—first with a rapid bulk flow, then a slow dribble feed for pinpoint accuracy.
3.Release & Convey: Once the target weight is achieved, the bag is released onto a conveyor belt, which transports it to the chosen closing station (sewing, taping, or heat-sealing).
Flexible Configuration
1. Dosing & Weighing Systems
Choose the feeder that matches your product:
Gravity Feeder: For free-flowing granules (grains, pellets).
Screw Feeder: For controlled metering of powders (flour, cement).
Belt Feeder: Ideal for fragile or blended materials.
Vibratory Pan Feeder: For consistent flow of difficult, non-free-flowing products.
All systems utilize digital load cells and controllers for gross weight filling.
2. Bag Handling & Closing Options
Closure Methods: Simple sewing, sewing with tape/string application, hot-melt closure, heat-sealing, or pinch-top closing.
Integrated Stations: The conveyor seamlessly transports the filled bag to the attached closing device.
3. Hygiene & Construction
Standard Frame: Powder-coated carbon steel.
Sanitary Option: AISI 304 or 316L stainless steel contact parts, polished finishes, and CIP-compatible design for food and pharmaceutical applications.
4. Essential Safety Systems
Dual-hand or foot-pedal activation with safety interlock.
Mechanical guarding and protective covers.
Emergency stop buttons at multiple points.
Popular Optional Modules.
5.Enhance your base unit as needed:
Bag Vibrator / Densification System: Compacts product in the bag for stable palletizing.
Vacuum Deaeration Probe: Removes air from aerated powders for denser packs.
Dust Collection Hood: Maintains a clean working environment.
Net Weighing System: Optional configuration for pre-weighed batches.
Automatic Label/Ticket Applicator: Applies pre-printed or real-time printed labels.
Stainless Steel Upgrade: For corrosive or sanitary applications.

oPEN-MOUTH BAGGING FAQS
A semi-automatic open-mouth bagging machine is a versatile, operator-assisted system designed to fill and seal pre-made open-mouth bags. The operator manually places the bag onto a shaping device or bag holder. After activating the system using a dual-hand safety control or foot pedal, the machine securely grips the bag, accurately doses the product (using gross or net weighing), and releases the filled bag onto a conveyor for sealing. It is an ideal solution for production lines that require flexibility, seguridad, and precision without the need for full automation.
Our semi-automatic baggers are suitable for a wide range of dry bulk materials, including:
Free-flowing granules: grains, seeds, animal feed, fertilizers, plastic pellets.
Powders: flour, cement, chemicals, minerals, pigments.
Non-free-flowing or sticky materials: certain additives, hydrated products, or mixed formulations.
With various feeder types available (screw, belt, vibratory, gravity, impeller), the machine can be tailored to handle different flow characteristics and product densities.
Safety is a top priority. Our machines comply with international standards (such as EC regulations) and include:
Dual-hand controls or foot-pedal activation to keep hands clear during operation.
Safety interlock systems that prevent machine activation unless the operator is in a safe position.
Mechanical guarding and protective covers around moving parts.
Emergency stop buttons at accessible points on the machine.
Our machines feature advanced electronic weighing systems with high-precision load cells, offering accuracy within ±0.1% to 0.2% of the target weight. They support a wide weighing range, typically from 5 kg to 50 kilos, and can be adapted to various bag dimensions (flat or gusseted, widths from 250–600 mm, lengths up to 1100 milímetros). The gross weighing method—weighing the product directly in the bag—ensures consistent final bag weights.
The system is compatible with multiple bag types and closing/sealing options:
Bag types: Paper, polywoven, polyethylene, laminated, and coated materials; available in flat, gusseted, pinch-bottom, or cross-bottom shapes.
Closure methods: Simple sewing, sewing with tape/string, hot-melt sealing, heat-sealing, or pinch-top closing. This flexibility allows the machine to integrate seamlessly into various packaging workflows.
Speed typically ranges from 200 to 300 bags per hour, depending on the product characteristics, bag size, and operator efficiency. For free-flowing materials, speeds tend to be higher. Factors like product density, flowability, and required accuracy can influence the overall cycle time.
We offer a range of optional modules to tailor the machine to your specific needs, such as:
Bag vibrators or vacuum deaeration probes for product densification.
Dust collection hoods to maintain a clean working environment.
Stainless-steel construction for food-grade or corrosive products.
Automatic label/ticket applicators for real-time or pre-printed labeling.
Multiple feeder types to match different product behaviors.
Integration with conveyors, palletizers, or big-bag filling stations.
